Douglas W. Mathews
Owner
Douglas W. Mathews joined the plasterers union, local 73 in the Inland Empire in 1974 as an apprentice plasterer. He was employed with Riverside Plastering Company, a company owned by his father. Production plastering was the focus at Riverside Plastering working with builders such as; Lewis Homes, Centex Homes, Acacia Homes, Icon and Standard Pacific to mention a few. After 25 years with Riverside Plastering Douglas took on a project with Merlex Stucco. He was recruited to go to China to educate a large Chinese company, Nanjing Real Estate Development. They had purchased a plaster pump and a boxcar of material from Merlex and needed some direction. Following the China excursion he went to work full time with Merlex Stucco as a sales manager in the Northern California region in 1998. During the following two years Douglas got an extensive education in concrete-repair-polymer-modified-cements and cementitious water proofing products. In September of 1999 he traveled to Seoul, Korea to consult and demonstrate the use of these special cements as well as liquid penetrating water sealers at a trade expo for Richard Choy at Sure Coatings and Roofing. These experiences have contributed to an open minded desire to explore new cementitious products and innovative combinations of cements, polymers and other additives that will enhance the end product. In the Fall of 2001 Douglas reactivated his license and opened D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company. The main focus of the new company has been installing a three coat lath and plaster system on custom homes. D.W. Mathews was contracted to install the system on the most recent addidtion to the Wine & Roses Hotel and Spa in Lodi, CA. THe smooth troweled stucco finish and the heavy wood beams give Wine & Roses a feel and resemblance of early California architecture. Commercial projects such as the Rio Vista, CA Chrysler-Jeep dealership, using polystyrene extrusions with a sand float finish provide a more-modern-traditional achievement. D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company has completed projects that extend North to Rocklin and South to Sonora, California. With the introduction of acrylic finishes and elastomeric coatings, stucco has taken on a whole new look, and D.W. Mathews can provide the "Old World" stucco finish look as well as the modern architectural designed finishes. Clean, quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction is our daily quest.

Cody W. Mathews
Management
Cody joined the D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company team in January of 2007. Cody is oldest in the Mathews family kids being born in 1976. He moved to Galt from Loma Linda, CA where he worked as an audio visual engineer at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. Cody first worked for his father and grandfather at Riverside Plastering in the early 1990's. After graduating from Loma Linda Academy in 1994 he went to school at La Sierra University in the Business Administration program. After attending several different colleges and universities he finished at the University of Redlands in 1998. Following business school he went to Web School at “In House Concepts” in Redlands, CA where he studied under the nation's #1 graphic design teacher in 1999 - 2000. He became certified in several graphics programs as well as receiving his web masters. He and a friend ran a short lived web business as well as a travel agency that is still in operation in Redlands. From 2001 to the end of 2006 Cody managed the Audio Visual equipment and installation at Loma Linda University in the Media Services Department. At night Cody ran audio for several bands in the Hollywood area as well as lighting on the set of several History Channel broadcasts.
Cody brings his business experience, office management, computer experience and hard work to the D.W. Mathews team.

Michael L. Mathews
Management
Michael joind the D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company team on November 1, 2006 as a business consultant. Michael moved to Roseville, CA in 1994 with his family Kristie, Melanie, Natalie and Jordon from Long Beach, CA. He has a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in financial management. In 1978 Michael joined forces with Crowell Planning and Construction Corporation in Pasadena, CA where he became president of Crowell Property Management Company. He later formed a business partnership with Bancap Investment Group creating Bancap Property Management where he was partner and general manager until moving to Northern California. Michael has extensive experience in commercial property management, lease negotiations, budgeting, tenant improvement management and partnership management. Since 1995 he has owned and operated an automotive detailing business providing services for a large auction business. Michael is also founder and CEO of Golf Klubz Fore Kidz, A California Nonprofit Corporation which recieves golf equipment by donation and then in turn provides golf clubs to children's programs in Northern California. Michael brings this experience to D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company and will assist with communication systems, computer systems, database management, accounting systems, business management and development.

Ana C. Mathews
Secretarial

Ana and Douglas Mathews married in March of 1985 while Douglas was working with his father at Riverside Plastering Company in Riverside, California. Ana is a native of El Salvador as is her brother Raul, a foreman with D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company. Ana has been around the plastering trade for over twenty years and has become a very important part of the D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company team. Ana's duties are endless from billing and office work all the way to emergency deliveries of materials at job sites.

Thomas D. Mathews
Foreman

Thomas Mathews graduated from Galt High School in 2003 and started working with his dad at D.W. Mathews Lath & Plaster Company shortly after. Growing up in a plastering rich family it was destiny that Thomas would end up in the trade. Over the past few years Thomas has learned every aspect of the plastering business and has worked his way up to one of D.W. Mathews foreman positions where he manages a crew of 8-12 plasterers and plaster tenders. Thomas is also our top scaffold setter and can set scaffold in some of the most unpleasant places imaginable. We are lucky to have Thomas on the D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster team.

Raul E. Hernandez
Foreman

Raul started his plastering career in the summer of 1986 for Ralph and Douglas Mathews at Riverside Plastering Company in Riverside, California as a plaster tender. He then took on the challenge of becoming a plaster pump technician where he excelled for the following ten years. Following his time with Riverside Plastering he took employment with Reykdal Plastering in Yucaipa, California where he learned the acrylic process and other unique plaster finishes. In 2003 an opportunity arose for Raul to work with Douglas Mathews again and so he moved his family to northern California and began working for D.W. Mathews Lath and Plaster Company. Raul is skilled in many areas of the plastering trade including the installation of architectural foam details. At the present Raul is a foreman for D.W. Mathews where he manages a crew from 8-12 plasterers and plaster tenders.
